These terms are the agreement between you and David Alexander ("we", "us") covering the Chompster app, the browser bookmarklet and chompster.app. By creating an account you accept them.
The app is still being built. Features will change, some will be removed, and things will occasionally break. We may reset or migrate data during the beta if we have to, and while we will do our best to avoid it and to warn you first, you should not treat Chompster as the only copy of a recipe you cannot bear to lose. You can export everything at any time from Profile → Your data.
This is the part worth reading properly.
Importing is for saving recipes you want to cook. Do not use it to scrape a site wholesale, and do not try to get round a paywall or a site's terms with it. We may rate limit or suspend accounts that abuse it.
Do not rely on Chompster for anything that affects your health. Nutrition figures, cooking times, ingredient lists and dietary labels are produced automatically, partly by AI, and partly from data published by third parties. They are estimates and they are sometimes wrong.
If you have an allergy, an intolerance, a medical condition or any other reason to need accuracy, check the original recipe and the packaging of what you are actually cooking with. Nothing in Chompster is medical or dietary advice.
AI is also used to tidy imported recipes into structured fields — naming ingredients, splitting steps, estimating times. It gets things wrong. Where you spot it, you can edit the recipe or report the problem, and we would be grateful if you did.
We will try to keep Chompster running but we do not promise it will always be available, and we may change or withdraw features. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you why first.
Chompster is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data or lost profit, or for anything that goes wrong as a result of relying on automatically generated nutrition or allergen information. Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot legally be limited.
If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by these terms.
We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and if an update materially affects you we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Carrying on using Chompster after that means you accept the new terms.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the protection of your local consumer law and can bring a claim in your own courts.
